29058 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing

29058 (2026). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Housing: To what extent does the Government attribute the reduction in the social housing register since 2022, shown in the Homelessness Insights report to 31 March 2026, to changes in eligibility or assessment criteria, as opposed to households being housed?
Hon Chris Bishop: I am advised that there have been no material changes to eligibility or assessment criteria for the Public Housing Register since 2022. Changes in the size of the register over this period therefore reflect other factors, including the number of households being housed, as well as other factors affecting demand for, and movement on, the register over time.
