Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister of Science, Innovation and Technology: What consultation, if any, has the Government undertaken with iwi, hapu, and Māori organisations in the last 18 months regarding Māori research funds or the future of kaupapa Māori research investment, listed by whom and date?

Hon Dr Shane Reti: I have been advised that MBIE has not initiated any formal consultation process over the past 18 months. MBIE does engage with Māori and Māori-facing organisations on matters of shared priority. MBIE are currently doing that with He Ara Whakahihiko Capability Fund, and will do that with any future investments in general.
