Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Associate Minister of Housing: Will the $10 million allocated for local provider-driven solutions (including Homelessness Outreach, Housing Assistance Centres, additional transitional housing services and Immediate Access to Transitional Housing) be continued beyond 30 June 2026; if so, at what level and from what appropriation?
Hon Tama Potaka: The $10 million allocated for local provider-driven solutions for the period from set up to 30 June 2026 has been allocated.
An additional $14.5 million has been provided for a support package for 2026/27 from the transitional housing appropriation. Some of the proven initial services funded will be continued in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington and Christchurch. Outreach and other support services are also being expanded to six new locations: Tauranga, Whakatāne, New Plymouth, Napier, Whanganui and Waimakariri. $2.7 million of this funding is to extend the support to the six new locations.
