28922 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Children: How many jobs broken down by job titles and region, if any, have been deliberately left unfilled in the Minister’s departments, if any, from the previous financial year ?

Hon Karen Chhour: I am advised that in November 2023, Oranga Tamariki implemented a temporary pause on recruitment through to 30 June 2024. This does not include critical frontline roles, such as Social Workers, which are still able to be recruited for. An exemption process applies if it is considered that a ‘paused’ role needs to be recruited.
