28917 (2023). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister for the Public Service: What directions, if any, has the Minister given their responsible ministries, agencies or departments on reducing their staff headcount, by ministry, agency or department?

Hon Nicola Willis: As Minister for the Public Service, I have not issued any directive on reducing the staff headcount to the Public Service Commission. The government has committed to a reduction in public sector expenditure, informed by the increase in headcount since the 2017 growth. I will deliver on this through Budget 24.
