Hon Brooke van Velden: I am advised that the former Hutt City Station, located in Alicetown, Lower Hutt, which Fire and Emergency operated from under a lease, remains vacated due to significant weathertightness issues that created health and safety concerns. Fire crews are responding from Avalon Station while long term options for the Hutt City area are assessed. Fire and Emergency is developing a business case to determine future operational needs in the Lower Hutt area, and no decisions about reopening or replacing the station will be made until that process is complete. Therefore, Fire and Emergency does not have an estimated project cost, as the final scope is still to be confirmed.
