Arena Williams to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: When the Minister said "right now, the law forces courts to make lenders refund all borrowing costs for that earlier period" during the First Reading of the Credit Contracts and Consumer Finance Amendment Bill on 20 May 2025, did he mean for the period of the entire loan, or from the period of the breach until it's corrected?

Hon Scott Simpson: This was a reference to the period before the 2019 reforms provided relief from the effect of section 99(1A).
