28831 (2025). Hon Jenny Salesa to the Minister of Customs: Has the New Zealand Customs Service conducted any assessments of trends in methamphetamine importation through air passenger luggage in 2024, and if so, what were the findings?

Hon Casey Costello: I am advised that the New Zealand Customs Service has conducted a number of assessments that have identified trends in methamphetamine importation in air passenger luggage throughout 2024. The findings have indicated that there are well established syndicates attempting to import methamphetamine via passenger luggage into New Zealand.
