28811 (2023). Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister intend to progress introducing an exit exam for primary and intermediate teaching graduates to demonstrate expertise in reading, writing, maths, and science instruction, and require existing teachers to undertake professional development in teaching the basics as outlined in the National Party’s ‘Teaching the Basics Brilliantly Policy Document,’ and if so, what advice, reports, briefings, aides-memoire, or any other documents has the Minister, or any member of their Office received during the week of 27 November 2023, on this by title and date?

Hon Erica Stanford: I am yet to request advice on this matter. I have received briefings from the Ministry of Education on the education portfolio and I am looking forward to receiving further briefings from officials on the policies outlined in the National Party Manifesto and agreements between the National Party and its coalition partners. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 29460 (2023).
