Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister intend to progress requiring primary and intermediate teaching graduates to pass an exit exam demonstrating expertise in reading, writing, maths, and science teaching in order to register as a teacher, as outlined in the National Party’s ‘Teaching the Basics Brilliantly Policy Document,’ and if so, what advice, reports, briefings, aides-memoire, or any other documents has the Minister, or any member of their Office commissioned on this by title and date?

Hon Erica Stanford: The member can find my policy objectives for this term in the Speech from the Throne and the National Party Manifesto and agreements between the National Party and its coalition partners. I have not commissioned or received any advice on this matter.
