28788 (2025). Takutai Tarsh Kemp to the Associate Minister of Housing: Does the Minister consider that changes to emergency housing criteria—prioritising families over young people—have left rangatahi more vulnerable to homelessness?

Hon Tama Potaka: No. In fact, 2,124 tamariki and rangatahi were prioritised into social housing thanks to the policy changes for Emergency Housing under Priority One. Additionally, Emergency Housing remains open for those in need as a last resort.
