28778 (2025). Lan Pham to the Minister for Biosecurity: Why has the Government chosen not to allocate any funding toward exotic Caulerpa eradication in 2025/26?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: In August 2024 I announced a $10 million boost to efforts to contain and remove exotic caulerpa seaweed (this followed my announcement of a $5 million injection in February 2024). A number of key projects benefiting from that funding, in particular to develop effective control tools, will conclude in the coming months. This will inform consideration of the on-going approach to managing this incursion, including appropriate funding from the Crown and others.
