28770 (2025). Dr Tracey McLellan to the Minister of Corrections: How many prisoners are currently on a wait list to attend a rehabilitation service as set out in their sentenced prisoner’s management plan, if any, at each prison, and by rehabilitation service type as of 31 May 2025?
Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Corrections acknowledges the importance of delivering programmes to people in prison and it is a top priority for Corrections to ensure that everyone eligible for a rehabilitation programme has the opportunity to attend and complete these programmes. A person’s eligibility to participate in any particular programme can depend on a number of factors, including their security classification, identified risks and willingness to engage. Some people may also be on a waitlist if it is not the appropriate time in their sentence to complete a programme. I am advised that waitlist data is extracted from a live data set and therefore cannot be provided retrospectively without substantial manual analysis. Therefore, data is provided as at 12 June 2025. I refer the member to the attached table, which provides the number of people waitlisted to attend a rehabilitation programme as at 12 June 2025, broken down by prison and rehabilitation service type. This is also my response to WPQ 28733 (2025).
