Hon Jan Tinetti to the Minister of Education: Does the Minister agree with the statement from Royal Society's report Advice on Refreshing the English-medium Mathematics and Statistics Learning area of the New Zealand Curriculum that "to address the ongoing inequity in the current education system, forms of teaching that provide opportunities embedded within culturally sustaining and asset-based teaching and assessment that recognize and privilege Indigenous knowledge systems are needed," and if not why not?

Hon Erica Stanford: I agree that the education system has been failing too many young people, particularly Māori and Pacific students, and this government has a plan to change this.
