28712 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister of Statistics: How many jobs broken down by job titles and region, if any, have been deliberately left unfilled in the Minister’s departments, if any, from the previous financial year ?

Hon Andrew Bayly: I am advised that Stats NZ has applied a recruitment freeze for all non-essential roles since October 2023, and that roles not deemed critical have been removed from Stats NZ’s HR system and budget forecast, rather than being left unfilled. As at 7 June 2024, Stats NZ is keeping two roles open that seconded employees may potentially return to. These are 'Design Analyst – Wellington' and 'Data Collection Specialist – Auckland'.
