28599 (2024). Francisco Hernandez to the Minister for Māori Development: How many jobs broken down by job titles and region, if any, have been deliberately left unfilled in the Minister’s departments, if any, from the previous financial year ?

Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by Te Puni Kōkiri that no specific roles were deliberately left vacant in the 2023/24 financial year. Te Puni Kōkiri implemented a recruitment pause on 26 September 2023 as part of the Fiscal Sustainability and Effectiveness Programme. This recruitment pause still allowed managers to recruit to roles but with tighter parameters and higher level approvals required.
