28493 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Economic Development: What considerations led to the decision to cut funding for the Tupu Tai Internship Programme, given its contribution to workforce development and the retention of Pacific talent?

Hon Melissa Lee: I am advised that the 2023/24 Tupu Tai programme was significantly adapted to ensure cost-savings were maximized while also ensuring the programme continued to deliver on its key objectives. Delivery of the Tupu Tai internship programme is being paused in 2024/25 in alignment with broader decisions on recruitment at the moment across the public sector.
