28470 (2024). Hon Dr Duncan Webb to the Minister of Justice: In the budget line "Legal Aid - Reducing Funding for Initiatives with Low Demand" what are the initiatives that have had funding reduced and by how much?

Hon Paul Goldsmith: I am advised this initiative makes no changes to the legal aid scheme. Eligibility for legal aid, the services it is available for and payments to lawyers all continue as they currently are. Instead, this is looking at forecast demand for the service and aligning appropriated funding to this. It is expected that the revised funding will continue to meet the current demand for legal aid.
