28452 (2024). Ricardo Menéndez March to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What are the "certain programmes" being slowed to make up the cost-savings for Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission in Budget 2024, by name, description, and expenditure?
Hon Andrew Bayly: This is an operational matter for Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission. However, the Te Ara Ahunga Ora Retirement Commission has advised that the “certain programmes” referred to in the Budget 2024 – Summary of Initiatives are set out below:
1. Sorted in Schools: Financial capability programme for year 9-13 students.
- Evaluation frequency changed to bi-annual, saving $73,000.
- Reduced consultant spend, saving $11,350.
2. Sorted: Financial capability website for New Zealanders.
- Reduced marketing and advertising spend, saving $50,000.
3. Research Projects: Research on financial capability and retirement matters.
- Reduced consultant spend for research studies, saving $100,000.
