28447 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister of Revenue: What specific purposes are Inland Revenue's 3,000 Microsoft Copilot licences being used for, and is Copilot used in any way to inform, support, or prioritise tax assessments, audit selection, debt recovery, or the risk-profiling of taxpayers?
Hon Simon Watts: Officials advise Inland Revenue has 5000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses as at 15 June 2026. Microsoft 365 Copilot is used by officials to enhance productivity in their use of the M365 suite of products. Specific purposes include summarising information, research, drafting and analysis. Microsoft 365 Copilot is not integrated into START (Inland Revenue’s Tax and Social Policy software) and is therefore no used in any way to inform, support or prioritise tax assessments, audit selection, debt recovery or the risk-profiling of taxpayers.
