28412 (2023). Hon Dr Deborah Russell to the Minister of Revenue: Does the Minister intend to "increase funding for IRD tax audits to urgently expand the IRD tax audit capacity, minimise taxation losses due to insufficient IRD oversight, and to ensure greater integrity and fairness in our tax system" as outlined in the National Party and New Zealand First coalition agreement, and if so, what advice, reports, briefings, aide memoires, or any other documents has the Minister, or any member of their Office commissioned on this by title and date?
Hon Simon Watts: The Government’s policy programme and priorities are set out in the Speech from the Throne and the coalition documents. I am currently seeking advice on a range of these items from officials. Decisions taken to progress the Government’s policy programme and priorities, including decisions about agency funding , will be announced in due course. Advice and modelling officials provide to support these decisions will be proactively released as part of a proactive release process.
