Camilla Belich to the Minister of Commerce and Consumer Affairs: What total fees or other remuneration, if any, were paid to each director or member of a board or committee subject to a conflict of interest management plan at any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, broken down by organisation, role, the amount paid, the period of service, and the proportion of agenda items the person was present for over that period, as at 10 June 2026?

Cameron Brewer: As set out in the Public Service Commissioner's guidance, "In a small country like New Zealand, conflicts of interest in our working lives are natural and unavoidable. Having interests outside of work is a normal part of life and even if there is a conflict of interest, most conflicts can be managed." Remuneration paid to Crown entity members are published in each entity's annual report. Fees paid are not recorded against the presence of a conflict of interest or a management plan. I expect all board and committee members to regularly review and declare their conflicts of interest as appropriate and in line with Public Service Commission guidelines and legislative requirements.
