28358 (2025). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Minister of Health: As at 1 June 2025, how does government funding on breast and cervical screening compare to funding on initiatives to improve the diagnosis of ovarian cancer?
Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that the cost of improving ovarian cancer diagnosis is not directly captured or reported; however, it is incorporated into structured education provided within hospital services and general practices and improvements in community-referred radiology services, including the annual community-referred radiology uplift of $30 million per annum provided in 2024. This increased investment, as part of our Government's focus on putting patients first and ensuring all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare, is enabling New Zealanders to have more consistent and local access to radiology across New Zealand.
