28338 (2025). Lan Pham to the Minister responsible for RMA Reform: Is the Government committed to national environmental bottom lines being a part of phase 3 of resource management reform?

Hon Chris Bishop: Cabinet has agreed the Natural Environment Act (NEA) will include a framework for setting environmental limits. This includes limits to protect human health set nationally, and limits to protect the natural environment (including for freshwater) which would be set by regional councils following a set methodology. This is also my response to Written Parliamentary Questions 28336 and 28337 (2025).
