Tangi Utikere to the Minister for State Owned Enterprises: Further to reply 20186 (2026), does any binding obligation on NZ Post to engage with affected store owners or communities exist in respect of the January 2026 changes, or is the engagement the Minister expects non-binding; and what mechanism, if any, exists to enforce it?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that the January 2026 network changes related to the urban retail network, for which the Deed of Understanding requires NZ Post to maintain a minimum number of service points and provide certain services, but does not specify engagement requirements.
