28222 (2024). Dr Lawrence Xu-Nan to the Associate Minister of Agriculture: What recent analysis, if any, have MPI commissioned on the effect on the NZ farming sector of importing food with lower domestic animal welfare standards?

Hon Andrew Hoggard: The Ministry for Primary Industries has not commissioned any analysis on this subject. However, officials from the Ministry did note submissions made to the Primary Production Committee regarding the Petition of Frances Clement: Apply equal animal welfare standards to imported and New Zealand farmed pork.
