28207 (2026). Lan Pham to the Associate Minister for the Environment: Does the Associate Minister agree with the statement of Wayne Langford, Federated Farmers president, on Q+A recently that "we've got 95, 96, 97 - whatever the number is - percent [of farmers] doing a really good job"?
Hon Andrew Hoggard: I have met with many farmers over the past few years who are doing great environmental work and who just want to get on with doing the right thing without unnecessary costs and uncertainty. That is why we are reforming the resource management system and introducing farm plans that are risk based and relevant to the catchment they are in. This will reduce the barriers that stop people from engaging in good environmental practice, recognising what is already working well, as well as continuing to improve environmental outcomes.
