Reuben Davidson to the Minister of Local Government: Does the Minister intend that the recently announced amendment to the Local Government (System Improvements) Bill will prevent prevent councils from appointing independent commissioners or members as voting members of District Licensing Committees?

Hon Simon Watts: District Licensing Committees are established under the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act, not the Local Government Act, and are therefore not in scope of the recently announced amendment.
