28191 (2025). Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Have there been any significant changes in resource allocation or strategic focus among New Zealand's embassies and high commissions in the past five years, and if so, what are the reasons for these changes?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: As part of its Baseline Programme, the Ministry is in the process of reallocating several roles, including in its offshore diplomatic network, to better deliver the Government's foreign, trade and development policy objectives. These changes will be implemented over the next few years. This will support the Ministry's focus on lifting relationships with India, Southeast Asia and ASEAN; a greater focus on emerging challenges in the Pacific, and the goal of doubling exports.
