28191 (2024). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister for Space: What, if anything, is being done to balance the advancement of our space sector with international commitments to peaceful use of outer space and avoiding escalation of space-based military tensions?
Hon Judith Collins: New Zealand advocates for a space environment that is peaceful, sustainable, safe and secure. All space activities conducted from New Zealand or by New Zealand entities overseas must comply with the Outer Space and High-altitude Activities Act 2017. This includes the requirement to be consistent with our international obligations and not contradict our national interests and national security.
