28181 (2026). Debbie Ngarewa-Packer to the Minister for Energy: Who made the decision to redact the Concept Consulting modelling summary that found "low need" for LNG imports, and on what grounds, if any, under the Official Information Act was that reduction justified?

Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that MBIE made the decisions on any redactions. MBIE provided a redacted version of the draft Concept Consulting slide pack in April 2026 under the Official Information Act. I am advised that MBIE initially took the decision to redact some material in that draft slide pack under section 9(2)(g)(i) of the Official Information Act, in line with Ombudsman guidance. I am also advised that MBIE subsequently reviewed the draft slide pack and determined that some previously redacted information could be released. MBIE also published this version of the draft Concept slide pack on its website on 11 June, together with an explanatory note which served to clarify this was a working document.
