28175 (2025). Hon Peeni Henare to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: What is the total budget allocated to MFAT’s presence in India for the next three years, and how does this compare with budget projections for countries in the Indo-Pacific region that New Zealand maintains diplomatic relations with?

Rt Hon Winston Peters: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade's 2024/2025 operating expenditure to run its High Commission in New Delhi is NZ$6 million (i.e. full cost). It is anticipated that out-year budgets will increase to include the full year impact of new resources being added in 2025/26, because of Budget 2025. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade does not hold data on how much other countries in the Indo-Pacific allocate to their presence in India.
