28141 (2024). Chlöe Swarbrick to the Minister of Finance: Which new initiatives in Budget 2024, if any, received a Climate Implications of Policy Assessment?

Hon Nicola Willis: At the individual initiative level, most new initiatives did not require a Climate Implications of Policy Assessment (CIPA), either because: • they did not meet the criteria set out in Cabinet Office Circular (20) 3; and/or • decisions are yet to be taken on policy settings for an initiative and so the climate implications of the policy cannot yet be estimated. Where relevant and possible, agencies provided an estimate of the climate implications from proposals, which officials used to develop a CIPA for the overall Budget package.
