28111 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Foreign Affairs: Does the New Zealand Government share Australia's position that "Australia no longer sees recognition of a Palestinian state as only occurring at the end of negotiations but rather as a way of building momentum towards a two-state solution"?
Rt Hon Winston Peters: New Zealand considers it is a question of "when not if" New Zealand recognises Palestinian statehood. The issue is not just about sequencing; it is also about ensuring the conditions are there for recognition to be successful. This includes building the institutions and political process to ensure a future state thrives.
