28085 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: Does she believe Child Poverty will increase due to Budget 2024, if not, why not?

Hon Nicola Willis: No. I refer the Member to the Child Poverty Report which was published as part of Budget 2024. The report includes forecasts which model the impacts of Budget 2024 decisions on child poverty on two measures. It shows that Budget 2024 decisions are forecast to have a positive effect on future child poverty rates as measured by after-housing-costs fixed-line (AHC50), and to have no statistically significant impact on before-housing-costs moving-line rates (BHC50).
