28078 (2024). Hon Barbara Edmonds to the Minister of Finance: If there are people more worse off than those of the squeezed middle, what support does Budget 2024 offer them?
Hon Nicola Willis: The Government’s tax package targets relief to low and middle-income households. Families with young children are set to benefit the most. The changes to the in-work tax credit and FamilyBoost tilt the benefits of the tax package strongly to low-to-middle income working families with children, providing up to $50 per fortnight extra from the in-work tax credit and up to $150 per fortnight from FamilyBoost for families with children in early childhood education.
In addition all New Zealanders stand to benefit from better fiscal discipline and responsible economic management, with Budget 2024 delivering a range of targeted investments in infrastructure and services that benefit New Zealanders of all backgrounds, ages and incomes.
