28007 (2025). Lan Pham to the Minister of Conservation: What have the findings been, if any, from the safety and efficacy trial on small numbers of 5 native bird species using Poulvac Flufend?
Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised that the initial results of the Poulvac Flufend vaccine trial show antibodies have been detected in birds of all five species in the trial, and none of the birds have shown any adverse reaction to the vaccine.
However, the trial will need to be completed with 12-month samples for a full picture and more conclusive results on the potential protection provided by the vaccine against HPAI. This is expected to be completed in July 2025, and the Department will report on the results following this.
