27999 (2025). Tamatha Paul to the Minister of Police: When, if at all, were the crime prevention initiatives facing grant cuts notified of this funding return?

Hon Mark Mitchell: I am advised that Police staff, contractors and partner agencies involved in the Burglary Prevention initiatives were notified of the funding return on Budget day 2025. The following crime prevention initiatives have had grants returns: • Oho Ake youth project - $0.250m per annum • Two trials and one programme under the Burglary Prevention portfolio - $6.346m per annum - which includes: o Ko Tou Manawa, Ko Toku Manawa run in Palmerston North o Locks, Lights and Lines of Sight (LLL) run in Eastern, Waikato, BOP and Canterbury Districts o Rural Crime Prevention trial run in North Canterbury. Please note that the Oho Ake Youth Project funding had already ceased, and the project team was informed prior to Budget day 2025.
