27968 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: Has the Teaching Council recently contacted non-university based Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers about random audits to ensure that they are meeting selection requirements and if so, what is the purpose of any such audits?

Hon Erica Stanford: The Teaching Council is an independent statutory entity and is accountable to its board, not the Minister of Education. This is an operational matter for the Chief Executive. This is also my response to written parliamentary question 27969 (2026).
