27961 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: What is the timeframe for the discovery phase of the Dandolopartners and Martin Jenkins work providing initial advice for a review of Teacher Education Qualification Standards and what is the timeframe, if any, for each subsequent phase of any review that may follow?

Hon Erica Stanford: The initial discovery phase of work to provide a Discussion Document on the review of initial teacher education programme requirements is underway and will conclude in July 2026. The purpose of this phase is to gather evidence, test thinking, assess the current settings, and identify areas for further consideration. Timeframes for subsequent phases of the review, including further analysis, sector engagement, and the development of potential recommendations, are being finalised and will be confirmed subject to the legislation passing. Any decisions on changes to ITE programme requirements will be subject to stakeholder consultation and the potential for implementation from the 2028 academic year. The requirements for the review cycle are outlined in the Education and Training (System Reform) Amendment Bill 2026 which states: The Secretary must carry out the reviews referred to in subsection (1)(e)— (a) at least once every 7 years; or (b) at shorter intervals if the Secretary thinks there is good reason to do so.
