27959 (2026). Hon Ginny Andersen to the Minister of Education: Who will Dandolopartners and Martin Jenkins engage with in the discovery phase of their work on providing initial advice for a review of Teacher Education Qualification Standards and how was that engagement list developed?

Hon Erica Stanford: Phase 1 (draft discovery phase) of the review is focused on assessing the 2019 Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Programme Requirements against the 2026 Standards for the Teaching Profession to understand how well they reflect the expectations for high-quality teaching practice in Aotearoa New Zealand and support the Government’s goal of lifting the quality of ITE. This phase will include the development of a case for change and must include input from recognised experts in education standards including ITE providers, principals and the Teaching Council.
