27951 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Housing: Further to reply 19839 (2026), given the Minister's advice that the Ministry "does not contract Emergency Housing Suppliers," on what basis can a prospective supplier be "declined," and what is the process and decision-maker for such a decline?
Hon Tama Potaka: I am advised by the Ministry of Social Development (the Ministry) that the Supplier Standards came into effect on 6 November 2023 and have not changed since their introduction. The standards are intended to ensure that Emergency Housing suppliers meet baseline expectations and that people staying in Emergency Housing receive the same level of service, care, and respect as any other paying guest. Further information about the Supplier Standards, including how to become an Emergency Housing supplier, is available here: https://www.workandincome.govt.nz/providers/housing-providers/emergency-housing/supplier-standards.html This is also my response to WPQ 27953 & 27956.
