27950 (2026). Hon Dr Ayesha Verrall to the Associate Minister of Housing: Further to reply 19834 (2026), what is the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development's best current estimate of the number of people sleeping rough in or near the former residential red zone in Christchurch's eastern suburbs, and when was that estimate last updated?
Hon Tama Potaka: As I noted in my response to WPQ 19834 (2026), I am advised that the number of people sleeping rough in or near the red zone in Christchurch fluctuates. I am further advised that the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development understands that between 30 and 40 households are sleeping rough in the red zone, not all of whom consider themselves homeless.
