27933 (2023). Hon Kieran McAnulty to the Minister of Transport: Does the Minister intend to work to replace fuel excise taxes with electronic road user charging for all vehicles, starting with electric vehicles, as outlined in the coalition agreement between National and ACT, if so, when will this be implemented?

Hon Simeon Brown: I intend to support further work regarding the broader use of Road User Charges, instead of fuel excise duty. The first step towards this is making sure Electric Vehicles are successfully integrated into the existing RUC system.
