27864 (2025). Lemauga Lydia Sosene to the Minister responsible for Ministerial Services: Is the total cost estimate for ground floor insultation as part of phase three of the premier house priorities upgrades still $50,000, if not, what is the total cost estimate?
Rt Hon Christopher Luxon: I note that the majority of your questions relate to a briefing titled ‘Premier House Priorities’, dated 12 March 2024. The advice in that briefing was provided by officials from the Department of Internal Affairs. Much of the content is now outdated, including the proposed timing of work phases and indicative costs. This was based on the best available information at the time and has since been superseded by Departmental decisions regarding remedial and maintenance work at Premier House. Details of the work undertaken at Premier House as part of the revised Phase One has been proactively released and is available here - https://www.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf/Files/OIA-Releases-2024/$file/OIA-2425-0005.pdf As part of Budget 2024/25, funding was approved to reprioritise available Departmental Capital for remedial works at the site. This capital has been allocated to address urgent deferred maintenance, improve functionality of the staff/service areas and minor improvements to the state rooms to protect the property from further degradation. Specific costs and timeframes for this work have not yet been finalised.
