27781 (2026). Camilla Belich to the Minister for Economic Growth: What board fee increases, if any, did the Minister approve for any board, committee, or other body of any agency, department, Crown entity, company, or other organisation for which the Minister is responsible since 27 November 2023, broken down by organisation, role, the previous annual fee, the new annual fee, the percentage increase, and the date approved, as at 8 June 2026?
Hon Nicola Willis: The fees for NZTE were lasted reviewed in December 2024 and the responsible Ministers agreed to leave fees at the current level ($56,000 per annum Chair and $24,500 per annum member). In July 2025, Cabinet agreed to revise the Cabinet Fees Framework for determining or reassessing the fees paid to members of statutory and other bodies in which the Crown has an interest [CBC-25-MIN-0031] and this resulted in an increase in some fee bands. The increases reflected the time since a review of the bands had last been completed, and to bring them in line with current private sector remuneration (less the 20% discount for serving on a Crown Board). The fees for NZTE were subsequently reviewed and set at $82,828 for the Chair and $41,364 for a member. The fee level is proportionate to where they score in the band and reflects the roles and responsibilities of the Board and the environment they operate in. Given the review of the Framework, they will be broadly comparable to private sector fees too.
