27727 (2025). Teanau Tuiono to the Minister of Defence: How does participation in Operation Olympic Defender interact with or differ, if at all, from New Zealand’s involvement in the Combined Space Operations initiative?

Hon Judith Collins: The Combined Space Operations Initiative is a 10-nation forum on responsible behaviour in space and on how to enable combined space operations among members. It does not conduct operations in space. Operation Olympic Defender is a 7-nation operation led by the US. It seeks to coordinate the space capabilities of its members to secure space services for its member nations.
