27713 (2026). Greg O'Connor to the Minister for Courts: What modelling has been done, if any, to determine the impact the Government’s justice legislative reforms will have on all courts' caseloads and timeliness?
Hon Nicole McKee: The Ministry of Justice (the Ministry) conducts modelling on the impact of individual policy changes that have the potential to impact key justice sector performance measures such as court inflow, active cases, and timely access to justice.
Additionally, the Ministry completes overarching projections on specific areas such as criminal court timely access to justice, legal aid, and the prison population which incorporates current system settings, including recent legislative changes.
