27527 (2023). Hon Jo Luxton to the Minister of Finance: What actions, if any, does the Minister intend to take to “ban foreign direct investment for the purpose of converting farms to forestry to collect carbon credits”, as outlined in the National Party’s ‘Getting Back to Farming’ document?

Hon Nicola Willis: As outlined in the Speech from the Throne, the Government will limit the conversion of productive farmland to forestry for carbon farming purposes. The Government will commission advice as to the most effective means of progressing this priority in due course.
