Hon Simeon Brown: I am advised that while there is currently no permanently employed gynaecological oncologist based at Wellington Hospital, Health New Zealand is actively working to address this gap. Despite the significant international shortage of these specialists and the challenges of recruiting to isolated roles, Health New Zealand remains committed to supporting the delivery of quality gynaecological oncology care for patients in the region, as part of our focus on putting patients first and ensuring that all New Zealanders have access to timely, quality healthcare.
